Challenge
InSite Health needed to move from overseas contractors to US-based full-time employees without losing product momentum, and they had critical infrastructure needs to address along the way.
Contributions
- Architecture Review: Reviewed the existing infrastructure and product in depth, then delivered an assessment report with concrete recommendations
- Roadmap Analysis: Analyzed the product roadmap, including sizing and prioritization, to guide hiring and development decisions
- Hiring Process Design: Designed and rolled out new-hire interviews and onboarding, then ran the technical interviews and assessments
- EMR Migration: Wrote screen-scraping export tools to migrate data between EMR systems
- AWS Infrastructure: Designed, built, and deployed the initial AWS infrastructure with CDK, migrating off the previous cloud vendor
- Security Improvements: Handled security work: forced TLS/HTTPS, session-timeout enforcement, and branch-protection rules
Results
Transitioned the engineering organization and still delivered the architecture review, roadmap analysis, hiring infrastructure, EMR migration tooling, and new AWS infrastructure, all inside a two-month engagement.
