Designed and built cloud infrastructure for an AI research lab startup, from discovery through implementation and handoff.
Role
Cloud Engineer
Challenge
An AI research lab startup needed production-ready AWS infrastructure for their research operations, with clear cost projections and a setup their own team could maintain going forward.
Contributions
- Discovery & User Research: Interviewed researchers to understand their workflows and what the infrastructure actually needed to do
- Architecture Design: Laid out several infrastructure options with detailed cost estimates, so the team could make an informed call
- Infrastructure Implementation: Built the final architecture as infrastructure-as-code, so it was reproducible and maintainable
- Knowledge Transfer: Trained the internal team and wrote the documentation they needed to run the infrastructure on their own
Results
Delivered the full AWS infrastructure in six weeks, from first discovery through implementation and handoff training.
Technologies
- AWS (compute, storage, networking)
